The Victor Harbor Archery Club held it’s Annual General Meeting last Saturday 12th August. The year in review was considered one of great development and improvement and a high level of member achievement in archery, both locally and internationally.

The Field course was mapped out early in the year, targets built and soil delivered to create an exciting challenge for Field archers. During a wet and windy Saturday a couple of weeks ago, gum trees and shrubs were planted by courageous members braving the bad weather – with the soil moist from winter rains, the sooner the plants are in the sooner they will grow to provide a landscape conducive for Field Archery.

Medals were also presented during the AGM to members who achieved personal bests in various categories in archery including winners from the recent Indoor State Championships. Presented with medals and certificates included – Paul Bagnell, Graham Potts, Callan Ineson, Laurana Schofield-Black, Kerren Black, Roslyn Black, Isaac Love, Lydia Strutton and Matthew.

On the International stage Pat Coghlan will be returning home soon after an exhausting 3 weeks competing in the World Games in Poland, training at the Lausanne World Archery Excellence Centre and making another appearance at the 4th stage of the World Cup in Berlin. Pat together with other Australian archers/teams performed well amongst the young, upcoming world champions from Europe and the Americas. They may not have pocketed gold medals but gave of their best and represented Australia well. Pat Coghlan is now 14th on the World Archery ranking list.

Pat Coghlan is never one to enjoy a brief moment of relaxation and even while training in Lausanne, Switzerland, he made time to put together a brief video for Year 12 students of the Investigator College, Victor Harbor Campus who will be participating in a ‘Beginner’ Archery Course after Pat returns from Europe.

The AGM also sanctioned the launching of the Victor Harbor Archery Club website – www.victorharborarcheryclub.com. The site should be going live within the next week. If you are interested in archery local to the Southern Fleurieu region then this site will provide all the information needed to get you started.
