Archers Get Ready - SA Leg of Matchplay Series is Coming!

The Victor Harbor Archery Club will be hosting the SA leg of the National Matchplay Series on the 13th and 14th January 2018. Archers are invited to register via Archers Diary with online registration and payments through Archery Australia website. Unfortunately the AA registration and events details and conditions are still in the processes of being finalised but will hopefully be open soon.
Matchplay is an exciting form of archery developed by World Archery to create an event both appealing and spectator-friendly. VHAC has hosted this event over the last few years and guarantees an exciting time for both archers and spectators alike.

The SA leg of the Matchplay Series will be conducted as an open event with Compound archers competing on Saturday 13th and Recurve archers on Sunday 14th. Qualify or ranking rounds will be conducted before each competition begins and then it is a process of elimination.
For all Matchplay, competitors are ranked using a Pairing Chart, which has the highest ranked archers initially matched against the lowest ranked, second highest against second lowest and so on. The pairing chart lists the progression through the tournament with the winners of each match progressing from match to match through the competition.
At all stages for the Matchplay recurve shoot at 70m on a 122 cm target face [60m for Cadet] and for compound 50m on an 80 cm 6 zone target face.
Keeping with tradition our catering ladies at VHAC will be at the event with many delightful and indulgent treats to keep everyone 'high' and energetic. A BBQ lunch will also be available with plenty of drinks to quench the thirst. Hopefully temperatures in 2018 will be reasonable rather than the 40 degree heat experienced at this years tournament!
Time to get ready archers, take up the challenge and register your interest now - all are welcome!
