2018 National & State Indoor Championships

The Indoor Championships for 2018 were held on the 21st and 22nd of July with Victor Harbor Archery Club acting as one of the host clubs for the event.

The above gentleman Attila Balla, sums up the event with that winning smile [or is it a grin and bear it one?] He was happy and together with all the archers participating in these Championships, enjoyed a great couple of days of fine shooting.

VHAC Tournament Manager Pat Coghlan and club member volunteers again did an excellent job of preparing and running the event. Archers were sustained with ready supplies of food and drinks aptly catered for by Roslyn and Kerren Black. Pino Miganelli was on hand for minor repairs when necessary and also had a hand in photographing the event - same rules apply - relax, focus and shoot. Wendy Howell, VHAC Club secretary kept everyone in line.

Results at the VHAC venue and in particular those of the clubs members were all good with Pat Coghlan taking the honours both in the State and National Open Male Compound division. Andrew Kuchel from Great Southern Archers came in a very close 2nd with just 1 point behind.

In the State Open Compound results VHAC stalwart's Paul Bagnell came 6th and Graham Potts 7th.

It was good to see a couple of Cubs on the shooting line. Oliver Clay of VHAC performed well coming in 9th in the National and 2nd in State. Female Compound Cub Lilly Moors from SVAC came 4th Nationally and 1st in State.

In the 20 & Under Male Compound division, Callan Ineson from VHAC was 4th Nationally and 1st in State. Callan continues on a roll since returning from the Oceania Championships with a couple of gold medals under his 'bow'.

Sherry Gale who has taken things a bit quietly recently, managed to come in 1st overall in the Master Female Compound division, shooting at the Hamilton Archery Centre.

Mention must also be made re various teams shooting at these Championships. Archery SA Compound team comprising of Pat Coghlan, Andrew Kuchel, Graham Potts and Paul Bagnell were 1st with the Queensland team 2nd. In the Master, Vet, Vet+ Compound group 'The Masters' from SA - Graham Potts, Peter Bennett and Attila Balla came 2nd.

To run through all top performances of archers at the VHAC venue would take some time and space. The club appreciated your attendance at these Championships and whether a PB was attained or a record broken, the fact that you made the effort to stand on the line and shoot is commendable.

The Victor Harbor Archery Club will no doubt, be doing it all again in 2019 - see

you then. In the meantime - good shooting! 🏹
