SA Archery Tyro & AJ Barter Tournaments
It was a perfect spring day for the annual Archery SA Tyro and AJ Barter Tournaments held at Mylor Oval on Saturday 30th September 2018. The weather aided in raising the atmosphere of the Tournaments to one of light-hearted activity - a wonderful 'day on the green'.
The Tyro event is for archers who have been shooting for up to 18 months since becoming members of Archery Australia for the first time - it provides the novice archer with an introduction to the rules of competition in Archery. This year there were 19 registered archers in the Tyro event and VHAC had one of its members, Brett Love who shot in the Open Male Recurve division shooting the Short Canberra in great style and consequently taking out 1st place. Congratulations Brett - a well deserved win!

Simultaneously and also shooting a Short Canberra was the AJ Barter Tournament for Veteran archers [Masters included]. This year a good friend of VHAC Atilla Balla, made the big step up by gaining eligibility into this tournament shooting as a Master. The AJ Barter is a handicap event so although Attila's score was good he had to settle for 3rd place - great effort though!

Lydia Strutton of VHAC competed again this year and shooting on target 14, had as her companions two long bowmen from Adelaide Archery Club - Jeff Nicole and Alan Chappie. It was like the three Muskateers, 'all for one and one for all!' The long bowmen enjoyed the challenge and Lydia came away with a 1st in Veteran Female Recurve division, bettering her score of last year.
