Beginning this Weekend........
Publicity in any form is always a good thing for promoting items of interest and the Victor Harbor Archery Club has much to 'crow' about with upcoming National Tournaments. The Victor Harbor Times newspaper will carry the following article to let the world know what we are up to!

It’s 2019 and the major sporting bodies of Australia are bracing themselves for another season of exciting sporting events be it the Australian Tennis Open, the Tour Down Under, the Australian Grand Prix or the Alice Springs Camel Cup.
Not to be outdone, Archery Australia and the Victor Harbor Archery Club will be inviting an influx of competitors to this wonderful corner of the world, to compete in National Archery Tournaments.
Beginning this weekend – 12th and 13th January – the SA Leg of the National Matchplay series will be held at the Victor Harbor Archery Club’s outdoor venue on Back Valley Road, Lower Inman Valley. Each State has held their Matchplay throughout 2018 and this event will be the last before the finals on 3rd March 2019. For the first time, Victor Harbor Archery Club will be hosting the Matchplay Series Final with the event being held at the War Memorial Reserve in Victor Harbor. This will be an ideal time for the public at large, to watch some of Australia’s top archers compete in a major archery tournament. The archers who reach the finals have worked hard accumulating points during the series so the pressure to perform at their best will be high.

The Matchplay Series is just one of three National Archery Tournaments coming to Victor Harbor. Victor Harbor Archery Club will also be hosting the Easton Australian Open Archery Tournament[a three-day event] running from the 28thFeb to the 2ndMarch. Qualification and elimination rounds will be held on the VHAC grounds on Back Valley Road, and the final will again be held at the War Memorial Reserve in Victor Harbor.
To complete the trifecta of archery events for this week in March, the World Target Trials will be held at the VHAC grounds on the 5th and 6th March. The purpose of these trials is to aid in the selection of the best archers in Australia to represent the Nation in various World Archery Events. Different trials are held at various times with accumulation of points determining likely candidates.

The Victor Harbor Archery Club is fortunate in having Pat Coghlan as its Tournament Manager and it is through his hard work, determination and passion for the sport and the club, which has brought these major events to Victor Harbor. Supporting Pat in dealing with the logistics and planning of these events are the keen and talented members of the Victor Harbor Archery Club, in particular the current committee members of Graham Potts – President, Wendy Howell – Secretary, Paul Bagnell – grounds and general maintenance, Kerren and Roslyn Black – Treasurer and catering and Lydia Strutton – Publicity Officer/Club Recorder.
If your interest lies in archery or if there exists a curiosity about the sport, then jot the dates for these events in your diary and come along to either the Back Valley oval or War Memorial Reserve to see some of our best archers in Australia perform.
