SA Leg of National Matchplay Series - Saturday 30th November 2019

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

VHAC Target grounds during SA Leg of NMS

Looks can be deceiving. The picture above shows a sunny Saturday 30th November day - perfect for a day of some serious archery. The day was not quite idyllic however, with the sun having little warmth and the wind whipping everything up that was not permanently attached!

The archers coped well with the windy conditions and no doubt some serious words said under the breath!

Ranking round lineup

Matchplay was conducted over the one day with 23 compound archers and 16 recurve - a good controllable number. Pat Coghlan was DOS and Glen Martin the official judge.

Being fed and watered always plays a big part in these events and the VHAC 'rustic shed on the hill' produced the goods with very capable volunteers manning the BBQ and dishing out the extras [good coffee always welcome!]

Final results are as follows:

Men's Compound:

Bronze - Jonathan Milne - SOPA

Silver - Rory Blake - Eden Field Archers

Gold - Andrew Kuchel - Great Southern Archers

Women's Compound:

Bronze - Rhiannon Mills - VHAC

Silver Katrina Robinson - SOPA

Gold - Tazmin Forrest - Wendouree AC

Men's Recurve:

Bronze - Astin Darcy - Canberra AC

Silver - David Barnes - Adelaide AC

Gold - Ryan Tyack - Sunshine Coast AC

Women's Recurve:

Bronze - Clare Reuther - Hobart Archers

Silver - Kim Lavender - SOPA

Gold Melissa Spinocchia - SOPA

Graham Potts President of the VHAC, continues the tradition of presenting Matchplay winners with their winning framed targets - unique and much appreciated by the archers.

Christmas and end of year 2019 is approaching fast. In February VHAC will again host the Easton Open, NMS finals and Olympic Target Trials. Hope you can join us in 2020 either as a follower of events or participant - all are welcome.

Thank you to all supporters, volunteers and members of the Victor Harbor Archery Club who continue with great gusto and humour and many hours of their time, to steer the club into bigger and better achievements. Stay safe, enjoy the Christmas break and come back shooting with a vengeance in 2020!
